Frequently Asked Questions
Truly, people like different ranges of fullness, so the amount is really up to you.
Peek a boo/ bottom accents : 5 - 10 dreads
Partial : 5 - 20 dreads
Half head shaved : 20-35
Full head w/ small undercut : 40-55
Full head : 40 - 65 dreads
If you are new to dreads and want a full head, I'd suggest starting with about 40 so your scalp can get used to the braids and the new weight your hairs not used to.
Keep in mind, double ended dreads give you double the amount, so installing 40 de dreads will give you 80.
Adding synthetic hair and braids to your hair does take time to get used to. Some ladies will experience a little bit of itching, tightness or it will take a few days to get use to the weight.
I suggest washing your new hair in a ACV bath. Soak your dreads in water, apple cider vinegar and a dash of shampoo mixture. Do not use hot water or the dreads will loose wave or shape. Rinse thoroughly and hang dry.
Using hair oils or hair serums are recommended to help with your scalp health.
Absolutely! Wash as often as you'd like.
Refer to the 'washing your hair' section under 'Dreaducation' Tab in Menu.
They can last for years if properly cared for.
I suggest wearing them for no longer than 6-8 weeks at a time. If your hair normally grows quicker, then 4-6 weeks.
You can re-install them as frequently as you'd like.
I personally take them out to put them right back in a day later.
When cared for and installed properly braid in dreadlock extensions are a protective hairstyle, so they actually help your hair!
The only time you would want to worry about damage is if your hair has been over-processed to the point of being brittle, if you deal with sever alopecia or anything else compromising your natural hair.
At least 3-4 inches to create the braid and hold the extension in place.
Loose ends are usually on the end of braids and spirals. These can be highly brushed or don't brush them and they will lock up beautifully.
NEVER brush wavy dreads. Brushing will separate your waves and stop the dreading process. You will need to separate (not brush) your wavy dreads 1-2x a day for the first month or so until they have full locked up.
Install them with a basic, three strand braid or blanket stitch.
